Two hundred and fifty primary school children and their teachers from several primary schools in Lagos thronged the Murtala Mohammed Airport local airport (MMA2) on 26th of April, 2017 for an excursion of the local airport operations, during the recently concluded Deli Delight Promo grand finale event sponsored by Deli Foods Nigeria Limited.
Deli Biscuit and Bi-Courtney (Management of the domestic wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport), came together in partnership to deliver this excursion to selected Primary Schools children, with the aim of expressing the brand’s appreciation for their patronage throughout the ten (10) weeks’ promo duration as well as expose these school pupils to the aviation sector.
The event began at 11:00 am with an introduction to MMA2 by MD Bi-Courtney Capt Jari Williams and Dr Yetunde Soile, GM Deli Foods Nig. Ltd.; the agenda also included interesting facts about the brand, prize-giving, the excursion proper, fun, games and loads to eat and drink. Deli brand ambassadors were also on hand to avail the kids and everyone present, with an abundance of deli-cious Deli biscuit products.
Speaking at the event, Dr Yetunde Soile, GM, Deli Foods Nig. Ltd. gave the children a brief history of Deli Foods Nig. Ltd, and a little break down of operations of the company.  Also present was Capt Jari Williams, who encouraged them to read hard in order to excel and achieve success as Air Pilot in the future.
According to the Brand Activation Manager, Juliet Okutagidi, the aim of the event, in addition to the excursion, was to reward the top three (3) winners of the Deli Delight Promo, which ran for ten (10) weeks’. The first prize winner went to St Saviour School Ijegun, runner-up went to Jaden School Festac and third prize winner went to Mari Primary School Festac. She also iterated that ‘Deli biscuit is all about nurturing the mind and bodies of children, through nourishing snacks and exposing their mind to new experiences such as the airport environment’.
The kids learnt about the operations of the airport as they followed MMA2 officials through the typical travellers’ walk-through; from the ticketing desk to boarding, and disembarking from a flight. They went round the airport and its environs before seeing the interiors of a plane and speaking to airport officials at their respective duty posts.
The excursion was absolutely wonderful and informative as the day came to an end with the kids given special Deli biscuit goodie bags.
Teachers representing their schools also had positive things to say about the event. One of the winning school’s rep said ‘Deli is the real thing, whether you are at home, church or anywhere, you should buy Deli biscuit. We told our school pupils to tell their church members, neighbours and everybody that Deli biscuit is the brand to eat at all times. The children enjoyed it (the promo), it was fun to us’.
Other highlights of the event were games and dance battles where the winners walked away with prizes.
Popular actress, Olayinka Olukunga, from the successful TV show ‘Nnena and friends’ was present at the event, where she thrilled the kids telling them a beautiful story about the flying tortoise, keeping them engaged and entertained after which some children were asked to state moral lessons they learnt from the story.
Without a doubt Deli Biscuit has shown that, it is the preferred children biscuit brand, blazing a new path for itself, and investing behind the educational advancement of school children in Nigeria.
