CHIVAS THE VENTURE “TRAVEL ON A TWEET” TWITTER COMPETITION. WIN A TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY

    OVERVIEW

  1. The “Travel on a Tweet” Twitter Competition is open to residents of the following countries who are 25 years of age or older: UK, UAE, Colombia, Thailand, Bulgaria, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Romania, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Brazil, Spain, Estonia, Israel and Nigeria.
  2. To enter tweet your answer to the following question: ‘Sometimes you need to take risks to succeed. What is the bravest thing you’ve done in business?’ (the “Question”) using the hashtag #TheVenture, including a photo or video if you choose (which must comply with paragraph 17 below). Your answer must be in English and you must tag #TheVenture for it to be a valid entry.
  3. The winning tweet will be the one that is deemed by the judges to best meet the criteria below:
    1. it demonstrates innovation and creativity;
    2. it is appropriate to and shows passion for the ethos of the Chivas The Venture competition and the ethos of the Chivas brand as a whole;
    3. relevance and completeness of the entry against the Question; and
    4. quality and style of the text response and any accompanying image or video (“Judging Criteria”).
  4. The winner will receive a trip to New York City to attend the Final Event of the Chivas “The Venture” competition in July 2016.
  5. The promotion will open at 12:00 GMT on 11 April 2016 and close at 23:30 GMT on 24 April 2016.
  6. This promotion is run by Chivas Brothers Limited, a company incorporated in Scotland with company number SC268758 and a business address of 72 Chancellors Road, London, W6 9RS (“Promoter”).

  8. FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  9. These Terms and Conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. By participating all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the terms and conditions. Please retain a copy for your information.
  10. Eligibility (Entry Criteria): The Venture Twitter Competition is open to legal residents from the UK, UAE, Colombia, Thailand, Bulgaria, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Romania, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Brazil, Spain, Estonia, Israel and Nigeria.
  11. To enter, you must:
    1. be aged 25 years or over;
    2. have access to the internet;
    3. have an active email account;
    4. follow the @TheVenture Twitter account;
    5. have an active public Twitter account. If you do not have a Twitter account you will need to create one in order to participate – seehttps://support.twitter.com for more details; and
    6. have a valid passport and be able to travel to New York, USA in July 2016.
  12. Employees of the Promoter, its affiliated companies, agencies and their immediate families, or anyone else professionally connected with this promotion are not eligible to enter.
  13. Only 1 entry Tweet is permitted per person from a Twitter account unique to the person. If more than one entry or Tweet is received from the same Twitter account, or from a different Twitter account by the same person, all such entries will be disqualified and only the first entry or Tweet will be accepted as an entry in to the promotion.
  14. No entries from agents, third parties or organised groups will be accepted. Entries made will be subject to Twitter’s terms of use which are available online at https://twitter.com/tos.
  15. No purchase is necessary to enter this promotion.
  16. Promotional Period This promotion opens at 12:00 GMT on 11 April, 2016 and closes at 23:30 GMT on 24 April, 2016. Any entries received after the closing date will not be accepted. Judging to determine the winner will occur shortly after the closing date. A final decision on the ultimate winner will be made on or about 22 May 2016. The potential winner (and no other entrant) will be informed by direct Twitter message and asked to provide additional contact details (full name, telephone number and email address) on or shortly after 22 May 2016.
  17. HOW TO ENTER

  18. To enter this promotion, visit http://twitter.com/TheVenture and look for the promotional tweet featuring the question.
  19. Entrants should answer the Question by tweeting their text response to the question using the hashtag #TheVenture. The entry tweet must tag #TheVenture and can be no more than 140 characters. Entrants may post an image (maximum size 10 MB) or a video (maximum length: 30 seconds, maximum size: 60MB) to support their answer. Entrants must creatively answer the Question ‘Sometimes you need to take risks to succeed. What is the bravest thing you’ve done in business?’. After preparing their text content plus any image or video content (in “jpg”, “jpeg”,  “gif”, “png”, “mp4”, “mpg”, “mpeg”, “avi”, “ogg”, “mov”, “qt”, “3gp”, “webm”, “wmv” format), entrants should ensure that they are happy with their submission (“Entry”). There must not be references to any third party or other links or URLs in the text or image/video content. Any such detail will be removed, not referenced or considered as part of the Entry.
  20. Any entries received from private accounts on Twitter will not be entered due to privacy restrictions. To enter from a private account you must amend your account settings to a public account in order for your entry to be accepted.
The account must remain public until the end of the promotion in order to be contacted in the event your entry is the winning entry.
  21. Entries must not:
    1. glorify drinking of alcohol, feature or refer to irresponsible, underage or excessive consumption of alcohol, or associate consumption of alcohol with bravado, sexual success, social success or popularity or an enhanced mental or physical performance;
    2. be violent, negative or/and discriminative of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, profane or obscene;
    3. promote or be about the use of illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons, any activities that appear unsafe or dangerous, or any particular political agenda or message;
    4. defame, misrepresent or contain negative remarks about the Promoter or its products, or other people, products or companies;
    5. contain trademarks owned by others or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, without permission, or contain any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;
    6. contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media or musical “samples”) without permission;
    7. contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other indicia identifying any person, living or dead, other than the entrant, without permission;
    8. depict, and cannot itself be in, violation of any law;
    9. feature any person under the age of 25.

    Entries which are in breach of any of the above requirements will be disqualified and removed by the Promoter.

  22. SELECTING THE WINNER(S)

  23. Entries will be judged according to the following criteria (in order of importance):
    1. the extent to which they demonstrate innovation and creativity;
    2. appropriateness to the ethos of the Chivas The Venture competition and the ethos of the Chivas brand as a whole;
    3. relevance and completeness of the entry against the Question; and
    4. quality and style of the text response and any accompanying image or video.
  24. The name/s of the judge/s shall be available upon request.
  25. The potential winner will be contacted via a direct message on or shortly after 22 May 2016 and will be asked to provide a telephone number or e-mail address on which the Promoter can contact them immediately to collect and verify further details. The potential winner will be asked to provide a copy of their passport and other proof of residence (and any other proof of eligibility reasonably requested by the Promoter) before being awarded the prize.
  26. The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to contact the potential winner. However, if a potential winner has not responded to notification within 48 hours, or if a selected winner is ineligible, otherwise in breach of these terms and conditions, or unable to take up the prize for any other reason, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw prize entitlement and select a reserve alternative winner next in line as per the judging criteria.
  27. Once confirmed the final winner will be contacted by telephone and e-mail within 7 days after the announcement of the winner with details of the prize and transport details.
  28. THE PRIZE

  29. The winner will travel to New York City to attend the Final Event of The Venture competition in July 2016 comprising of:
    1. Return economy flights to New York City from the winner’s country;
    2. Accommodation in a four star hotel as specified by the Promoter for 2 nights on 14 and 15 July 2016;
    3. Airport transfers at destination;
    4. Transfers to and from The Venture final event on the evening of 14 July 2016; and
    5. An evening meal during The Venture final event.
  30. The winner must pay the cost of transport to and from his/her originating airport, travel insurance, any other travel related costs not specified above (including without limitation excess baggage charges, obtaining passports and visas), and for any other costs or expenses not specified above. Note, any room service and mini-bar charges at the hotel will be at the expense of the Winner.
  31. The winner is responsible for obtaining any necessary visas or other documentation before travel.
  32. Travel dates once arranged are not changeable and non-transferrable. Airline tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable, and are not valid for upgrades.
  33. The prize may not be combined with any other offer and travel may not qualify for frequent flyer miles. The prize is not assignable, substitutable or transferable.
  34. A cash alternative is not available for the prize. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value due to unavailability or otherwise in its absolute discretion.
  35. GENERAL

  36. The Promoter reserves the right at its sole and absolute discretion to disqualify any individual deemed to be ineligible, found to be attempting to circumvent the promotion by tampering with the operation of the promotion, setting up multiple accounts, using multiple identities, using rude, inappropriate, or profane statements or acting in any manner deemed by the Promoter to be in violation of the terms and conditions.
  37. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for failure to receive an entry where such failure is due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s control.
  38. The Promoter and its agents will only use personal information supplied by entrants to this promotion for the purposes of administering this promotion, unless separate consent is received to use such information for any other purpose.
  39. The winner agrees to participate in any reasonable publicity required by the promotion, although he/she may opt-out of this at any time by notifying the Promoter using the contact details provided in previous correspondence with the Promoter.
  40. In the event of exceptional circumstances outside its reasonable control, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the promotion or these terms and conditions at any stage but will always endeavour to minimize the effect to entrants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
  41. The Promoter’s and judges’ decision is binding in all matters. To ensure fairness and the integrity of the promotion to all entrants, the Promoter will not enter into discussions regarding the running of this promotion via Twitter, but will respond to questions via private message on Twitter.
  42. Twitter, Inc. is not a sponsor of this promotion and bears no responsibility or liability for the administration, operation, selecting, judging, or conduct of the promotion, or for the fulfilment of prizes associated with this promotion. Furthermore, any questions, comments or complaints regarding the promotion should be directed to the Promoter, not Twitter.
  43. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter accepts no liability for any damage, loss or injury suffered due to entering this promotion or taking up a prize.
  44. By providing an Entry, each entrant grants the Promoter and its agents the right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify the Entry in any way, in whole or in part, in commerce and in any and all media worldwide now known or hereinafter developed, in perpetuity on a worldwide basis and without further consideration or notice to the entrant. Entrants warrant that any person featured in any image or video in an Entry is over 25 and has given their express permission.
  45. The name of the winner and winning entry will be announced after 22 May 2016 on www.theventure.com and on Twitter. Entrants may also write to the Promoter at the address given above to find out the name and county/region of the winner.
  46. The Venture final event and all correspondence relating to the Travel on a Tweet competition will be conducted in English.
  47. These terms and conditions (and any non-contractual issues which arise out of or in connection with them) will be governed by relevant local law with any disputes as to the meaning of these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  48. Data Protection: The Promoter will process any personal data collected as part of the entry process in accordance with the global privacy policy available at https://www.theventure.com/global/en/legal/privacy-policy.
