Pop Superstar Jennifer Lopez, rapper Pitbull, and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte performed “We Are One (Ole Ola)” during the opening ceremony before the FIFA World Cup 2014 group A preliminary round match between Brazil and Croatia at the Arena de Sao Paulo in Brazil on June 12.
Brazil kicked off the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a football-style Carnival Opening Ceremony on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Arena de Sao Paulo 62,600-capacity stadium filled with thousands of dancing yellow-clad samba fans, who seemed undisturbed by the construction delays and on-going protests.
The guests at the World Cup 2014 opening ceremony included Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
The centre of the show was a giant LED ball made up of more than 90,000 light clusters. More than 600 artists, including acrobatic gymnasts, trampolinists, marshal arts-style capoeira performers and stilt walkers also featured in a homage to Brazil’s three great treasures: nature, people football.
Jennifer Lopez, rapper Pitbull and pop star Claudia Leitte bounced around the giant stage that emerged from the giant LED ball and now resembling a peeled melon singing the official World Cup theme song “We Are One (Ole Ola)” as Brazilian band Olodum banged drums below.
J-Lo, dressed in a low-cut sparkling green outfit, turned up for the performance despite earlier reports that she wouldn’t be able to attend.
