Official Rules

  1. Undergraduate or Masters Students between the ages of 18 and 24 years, from all departments and levels of seniority can participate in Idea Trophy.
  2. Interested students who are under the age of 18 must obtain parental consent before participating.
  3. Each team must be comprised of three students from the same university.
  4. Each team should decide on a “Team Leader” among three members. The Team Leader will be the “Spokesperson” and main contact person throughout Unilever IdeaTrophy.
  5. Teams cannot change after Stage one which is the submission stage
  6. Project should be submitted before deadlines. No submission will be accepted after the deadlines. To view the deadline dates, Click here
  7. The Selection process will have three Stages:
    • In order to participate in the first Stage, teams must register on www.ideatrophyng.com  to submit their idea(s) and video(s)
    • At the end of the first Stage, 36 teams will be selected to compete in the 2nd Stage of the competition
    • In the 2nd Stage each team will be asked to prepare, submit and present a business plan for their selected idea. The business plan format will be provided by Unilever. The plans will be evaluated through a competitive judging process and 12 winning teams will be invited to Lagos for the Semi-finals which is at the Boot camp.
    • At the Bootcamp all 12 selected teams will make a detailed presentation of their business plans to a panel of judges after which 6 teams will be selected to proceed to the Grand Final.
    • At the final Stage, the 6 Finalist teams will have the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality. They will present detailed execution plans of their business ideas to a Panel of Judges comprising Business leaders from Unilever Nigeria and industry professionals. The Panel of Judges will then select the “Winning Team”, “1st Runner Up”, and “2nd Runner Up”.
  8. Communication and material submission will be accepted only through the official website. Any other form of submission and communication will not be accepted.
  9. Queries regarding any phase will be closed 48 hours prior to its deadline. No queries will be entertained after the 48 hours prior the deadline.
  10. Material submission should be related to Unilever’s Rexona brand only.
  11. Ideas cannot be revised once they are submitted; but there is no limit to the number of ideas to submit at the 1st phase.
  12. All initial ideas and projects will be submitted in English to www.ideatrophyng.com.
  13. Subsequent submissions for the Zonal championships will be via email which will be communicated to participating teams
  14. All contacts will be made via e-mail. Likewise, IdeaTrophy Administration will provide all necessary information on-line via www.ideatrophyng.com and via e-mail.
  15. In case of being rewarded with a trip abroad, participants should be eligible to obtain a valid visa for the specified country to claim their awards.
  16. The finalist team members of previous years are not allowed to participate.
  17. Current and Previous Unilever Brand Ambassadors or Interns are not eligible to participate
  18. By participating, all team members acknowledge, declare and undertake that, all of the ideas that they share within the scope of Ideatrophy 2014 belong to the team and no other person has any right and authorisation on the ideas to the best of their knowledge. The team give consent to Unilever to use these shared ideas and agree that they will not claim for any amount from Unilever for this usage.
  19. Please note that all submitted documents, pictures and ideas remain the property of Unilever Nigeria Plc.
  20. Unilever reserves the right to change the declared dates, schedules and rules of IdeaTrophy.

    All this their awards to be won " dstv, phones, an all expense paid trip to Singapore" how those it effect the business ideas of the contestants? How will those awards turn the ideas into reality?
